Seek urgent care for new loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness around the groin, sudden weakness, facial drooping, confusion, or difficulty speaking.

Progressive numbness, loss of coordination, or weakness in an arm or leg also needs timely evaluation. These symptoms may signal a condition that routine rehabilitation cannot manage safely.

Medical review is also appropriate when symptoms do not match the expected recovery pattern.
